SUMMARY

This article describes how to connect to a local area network (LAN) or Dial-Up Networking connection without changing your settings.

MORE INFORMATION

You can configure Outlook Express to connect to a mail server through either a LAN or a Dial-Up Networking connection without changing settings before you connect.

This article assumes that you have a valid and working Dial-Up Networking connection to your mail servers.

To configure Outlook Express to connect to a mail server through either a LAN or a Dial-Up Networking connection:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. On the Mail tab, click the appropriate e-mail account, and then click Properties.
  3. On the Connection tab, check to select the Always connect to this account using check box.
  4. Click Local Area Network.
  5. Click OK, click Close, and then click Exit on the File menu.
When you start Outlook Express again, the program attempts to send and receive mail by using the available connection.
