PIP2001: Error Message: <Program> Cannot Load the Preview Picture (272703)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to open a picture in any of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, you may receive the following error message:
Program cannot load the preview picture.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the graphic filter (.flt) files are damaged.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the following methods to uninstall the program in which you receive the error message, rename that program's graphic filter files, and then reinstall the program.

Uninstall Microsoft Greetings 2001 or Microsoft Picture It! 2001

To uninstall the Greetings 2001 or Picture It! program:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click the program in which you receive the error message, and then click Add/Remove.
  4. Click Uninstall.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to uninstall the program.
  6. Close Control Panel.

Rename the Graphic Filter Files

Rename the following graphic filter files:
  • Cdrimp32.flt
  • Cgmimp32.flt
  • Drwimp32.flt
  • Dxfimp32.flt
  • Emfimp32.flt
  • Fpx32.flt
  • Gifimp32.flt
  • Pictim32.flt
  • Psgimp32.flt
  • Wmfimp32.flt
  • Wpgexp32.flt
  • Wpgimp32.flt
For information about how to find files in Windows, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type finding files, and then click Display.

For information about how to rename files in Windows, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type renaming files, and then click Display.

Note If the file extensions for the graphic filter files are not displayed, follow these steps:
  1. Double-click My Computer.
  2. On the View menu, click Folder Options, and click the View tab.
  3. Click to clear the Hide file extensions for known file types check box.
  4. Click OK.

Install Greetings 2001 or Picture It! 2001

To install the Greetings 2001 or Picture It! 2001 program:
  1. Insert the program's installation CD-ROM into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
  2. If the Setup program starts automatically, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation process.

    If the Setup program does not start automatically, proceed to the next step.
  3. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  4. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  5. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Install.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Click Finish, and then follow the instructions on the screen to install the program.
  8. Close Control Panel.
