NetDDE Client Is Unable to Connect to NetDDE Server on First Attempt by Using Windows 2000 (272485)

When a NetDDE client attempts to connect to a DDE server that runs on a Windows 2000-based computer, it may appear to connect successfully, and DdeConnect does not fail. However, when you try to get or put data, there may be no response from the server.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem and make the connection work, use either of the following methods:
- Connect to the same DDE server on the same Windows 2000-based computer from a third client computer.
- Continue to disconnect and reconnect. After an intermittent period of time, the connection may begin to work.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
