ADSI Requests on LDAP Objects May Hang Multiple-Threaded Programs (272365)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
This article was previously published under Q272365 SYMPTOMS
When you are using the ADSI LDAP provider in a multiple-threaded program, threads may not return from an LDAP request.
CAUSE
This issue is caused by a critical section not being released by the first thread to make a request. Therefore, subsequent threads cannot enter the critical section and seem to stop responding (hang).
This problem is not apparent in programs that effectively run "single-threaded" (such as CScript programs), but is noticeable in programs in which requests run on multiple threads (such as Microsoft Internet Information Services).
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the
