SYMPTOMS
You computer may stop responding (hang) for several hours while the Preparing Network Connections dialog box is displayed.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when all of the following conditions are met:
- The computer is a WIndows 2000-based domain controller.
- The computer uses network basic input/output system (NetBIOS) scopes.
NOTE: To confirm this, see the following registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT\ScopeID - The scope ID is ignored while the session is created.
