This article was previously published under Q272237 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to add a Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional-based workstation to a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based domain, you may receive the following error message:
Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the following error has occurred: The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship.
CAUSE
This issue can occur when the name of your user account contains a space, or when you do not have full Administrator permissions in the Windows NT 4.0-based domain.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, log on through an account that has full Administrator permissions before you try to add a workstation to the domain. If you already have Administrator permissions but your user name contains a space, create a copy of your user account and select a user name that does not contain a space.
