- the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000
This article was previously published under Q272147 SYMPTOMS
If you try to modify a user object in Active Directory Users and Computers, you may receive the following error messages:
There is no such object on the server.
Facility: LDAP Provider
ID number: 80072030
Microsoft Active Directory - Exchange Extension
The following Active Directory Error Occurred: Object Not Found
CAUSE
This issue may occur if the Active Directory Users and Computers user interface has not been updated with the information that is in Active Directory. This behavior may occur if another administrator on a different computer moves or changes the user object while the user interface is open on your computer. For example, you are using an Active Directory Users and Computers session, and Administrator2, who is using a different Active Directory Users and Computers session, selects User1 and moves the user object to a different organizational unit. If you try to perform an action on User1, you receive the error messages that are described in the preceding section.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, click Refresh on the Actions menu to refresh the Active Directory Users and Computers user interface. If you do so, Active Directory Users and Computers reads Active Directory, and then updates the user interface with the new information.
NOTE: This issue is not resolved if you change the window in the user interface.
