SYMPTOMS

When you call the GetShortPathName function with a long file name for a file that is located on a Novell NetWare server, the function reports that the path is invalid. This can manifest itself by a program reporting that it cannot open a file, or that a file name is invalid. This occurs only if the long file name includes more than one path element that is a long name.

CAUSE

Novell NetWare cannot handle the mixing of short and long file name parts. Because of the way GetShortPathName is implemented, this mixing occurs.
