This article describes how to set up a NEC MobilePro 800 or MobilePro 770 Microsoft Windows CE Handheld PC (H/PC) for remote access to an Internet Mail Access Protocol 4 (IMAP4) mailbox.

To set up remote networking on the Windows CE H/PC:
  1. Tap Start, point to Programs, point to Communication, tap Remote Networking, and then double-tap Make a New Connection or verify the settings on an existing connection.
  2. In the Type a name for the connection box, type the name for the new connection.
  3. In the Select the connection type box, tap Dial-Up Connection, and then tap Next.
  4. In the Select a modem box, tap your modem, and then tap Next.
  5. Type the phone number for your dial-up connection, and then tap Finish.

    NOTE: You may need to include the country and area code if the phone number is different from yours, or if you need to use a 10-digit phone number in your area.
  6. On the File menu, tap Connect. If you are connecting to a private network, type the user name, password, and domain. This tests that you can log on to your network with these new settings.
  7. After you are connected, start Microsoft Pocket Outlook and configure it for Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) access.
To configure Pocket Outlook:
  1. Double-tap the Inbox icon on your desktop.
  2. Tap Services, and then tap Options.
  3. Tap the Services tab, and then tap Add.
  4. Tap IMAP4 Mail, type the name of your service, and then tap OK.
  5. Tap the remote networking connection for Windows CE H/PC connection in the Connection box, type the IMAP server name, user ID, and password, and then tap Next.
  6. Verify your download options in the next two dialog boxes, tap Finish, and then tap OK.
  7. Tap Services, tap the Connect or Synchronize folders or tap Send and Receive to check messages.
