FP2000: Style Sheet Links Feature Reformats Entire Web If the Active Page Is an ASP Page (272091)

SYMPTOMS

The Style Sheet Links feature reformats the entire web if the active page is an ASP page.

For example, when you open an ASP page and add a CSS file (on the Format menu, point to Style Sheet Links), the entire web (both ASP and HTML files) is reformatted with links to this style sheet.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use a Web page that contains only .htm files. Formatting a single page to use a style sheet then works as expected.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 2.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Open a web in FrontPage 2000, and add several HTML pages and a single ASP file.
  2. Create a style sheet. (On the File menu, point to New, click Page, and then click Style Sheet.)
  3. Save the style sheet as 1.css and close it.
  4. In the Editor, open the ASP page. On the Format menu, point to Style Sheet Links.
  5. In the Link Style Sheet dialog box, click Add and then double-click 1.css.

    IMPORTANT: Make sure that the Selected Page(s) button is selected.

    Click OK.
  6. Open any other page in the web.
Result: All the files in the web are now formatted with the newly selected .css file.
