STS: Error Message: "Application Did Not Save Document" When Saving File to SharePoint Team Web Site (272060)

When you try to save to shared documents or any Document Library on a Web site based on SharePoint Team Services, Microsoft Office programs begin the save process but stop midway. You receive the following error message:
Application did not save document.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, restart the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Web server.
NOTE: To restart IIS Web services, you must be the Windows NT (machine) administrator on the IIS Web server running SharePoint Team Services.
- At the command prompt, type net stop w3svc to stop service.
- At the command prompt, type net start w3svc to start service.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
