OFF2001: Microsoft Office Manager (MOM) Not Available on the Office 2001 CD-ROM (271983)

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Office Manager (MOM) is not included on the Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac CD-ROM, as it was with earlier versions of Microsoft Office Macintosh Edition.

RESOLUTION

You can download the Microsoft Office Manager and Microsoft Office QuickView by browsing to the following Microsoft MacTopia Web site:

http://microsoft.com/mac/download/default.asp

Microsoft Office QuickView installs a module on the Apple Control Strip that allows you to do the following:
  • Access to the Project Gallery with a single click.
  • Open the Office Address Book.
  • Create a new Entourage contact.
  • Review tasks and calendar events set in Entourage or other Office programs.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, you can add the Office programs to the Favorites menu by using either of the following methods:
  • Select the item in Finder. On the File menu, click Add to Favorites.

    -or-
  • Hold down the CONTROL key and click the item in Finder. Then click Add to Favorites on the shortcut menu that appears.
To access the Favorites menu, click the Apple icon in the upper-left corner of the screen.

This is the recommended version of MOM to use if Office 98 is installed on OS 9.x.
