MORE INFORMATION

To ban a user from a chat community:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Browse to the Bans folder for the chat community that contains the user that you want to ban.

NOTE: This folder is located under the Exchange Site name.
  3. Right-click the Bans folder, click New, and then click Ban.
  4. On the General tab, type the user nickname, user name, and domain name or Internet protocol (IP) address.

You can enter the asterisk (*) and the question mark (?) as wildcard characters in the Nickname, User name, and Domain name or IP address boxes if wildcards are necessary.

NOTE: The chat community that is protected by the ban is identified by the domain name or IP address.
  5. To limit the ban to a particular time of day, in the Time active box, type a start time and end time. All times are based on the local computer time.
  6. To indicate the reason you are banning the user, in the Reason for ban box, type the reason.
To ban a group of users, use the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in to create a group for users, add the group to the account, and then ban the group. For more information, see the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server online documentation.
