SYMPTOMS
If you install the Multilingual User Interface (MUI) component in Windows 2000 and choose a language other than English, installing Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) causes some menu items in Windows Explorer and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 to revert to English.

Registry ChangesWARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve

To resolve this problem, three registry values must be added or modified.
The hotfix package described in this article makes these changes automatically and registers the fact that the hotfix has been applied. No operating system files need be replaced to resolve this problem.
Three REG_SZ values are added or modified under the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\International
The added or modified values are:
rundll32.exe = 5.00.2919.6300-5.00.3299.9999
explorer.exe = 5.00.2919.6300-5.00.3299.9999
iexplore.exe = 5.00.2919.6300-5.00.3299.9999
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
