This article was previously published under Q271915

SYMPTOMS

When you try to view the file attributes of an NFS-shared file from a Windows 2000-based NFS client, you may enter into a loop where an error message dialog box is continuously displayed. Each time you click the OK button to dismiss the error message dialog box, the error message dialog box reappears, and the only way to resolve this behavior is to use Task Manager to quit Explorer. The error message dialog box contains the following error message:
Retrieve NFS Properties on a mount point of file.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if there was a logic error that did not correctly handle UID or GID values that are negative.
