SUMMARY

This article describes how to transcribe conversations in a registered channel when you are using Microsoft Exchange Chat Server.

MORE INFORMATION

The Transcription extension (TScript) enables you to save all the public messages that are sent in a registered channel to a text file, which you can refer to at a later time. To transcribe chats in a registered channel:
  1. On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Browse to the Channels folder for the chat community where you want to transcribe the conversation. (This folder is located under Administrative Groups.)
  3. Click the Channels folder.
  4. In the Details pane, right-click the channel on which you want the conversations to be transcribed, and then click Properties.
  5. Click the Extensions tab, verify that the TScript extension is displayed in the window.

NOTE: The channel's Extensions tab lists all of the installed extensions for the chat community in which the channel is defined.
  6. If the extension is displayed, go to step 14. If not, browse to the IRCX folder for the server that hosts the chat community where you want to transcribe chats.
  7. Right-click IRCX, and then click Properties.
  8. Click the General tab, click the chat community where you want to transcribe conversations, and then click Properties.
  9. Click Extensions, and then click Add.
  10. Click TScript.
  11. Stop, and then restart the Microsoft Exchange Chat service.
  12. Locate and click the Channels folder.
  13. In the Details pane, right-click the channel on which you want the conversations to be transcribed, and then click Properties.
  14. On the Extensions tab, click TScript, and then click Properties.
  15. Click to select the Transcribe this channel check box.
  16. Click Apply, and then click OK.

You can also begin to transcribe conversations in a registered channel by running the following command from a chat client:
