XFOR: Exchange 2000 Migration Wizard Does Not Migrate Folders with a Leading Space in the Title from Lotus Notes R5 (271746)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q271746

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Exchange 2000 Migration Wizard to migrate shared folders that contain a leading space in the title from a Lotus Notes R5 Domino server, the folders and their contents do not migrate over to Exchange 2000. In the same respect, the Migration Wizard does not migrate folders with a trailing space in the title from Lotus Notes R5 to Exchange 2000.

For example, if you are trying to migrate these three shared folders from a Notes R5 server:

Test1
Test2(notice the leading space in the title)
Test3  (notice the trailing space in the title)

only Test1 will migrate successfully. Test2 and Test3 will not appear in Microsoft Outlook, nor will their contents.

NOTE: This problem does not exist when you use the Exchange 2000 Migration Wizard to migrate folders that contain either leading or trailing spaces in their names from a Lotus Notes 4.6 Domino server.

WORKAROUND

The workaround at this time is to remove the leading and trailing spaces from the titles of all shared folders in Lotus Notes R5 that need to be migrated to Exchange 2000.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
