XCON: Cannot Create a New MTA Stack for Exchange 2000 with the Exchange 5.5 Administrator Program (271723)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q271723 SYMPTOMS
When you use the Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Administrator program to create a new X.400 MTA TCP/IP transport stack for a server running Exchange 2000 Server, the MTA stack does not replicate over the Active Directory Connector (ADC). The X.400 connector replicates over the ADC, but it does not function properly.
CAUSE
The ADC does not replicate Exchange 2000 objects from Exchange 5.5 to the Active Directory. Therefore, an MTA transport stack that is created using the Exchange 5.5 Administrator program on an Exchange 2000 server does not replicate to Active Directory.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use the Exchange 2000 System Manager to create an X.400 MTA TCP/IP stack and to associate that stack with the Exchange 2000 server. This workaround also applies when you create an X.25 transport stack for the Exchange 2000 server.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
