Visio2000: Error Message: Visio32 Has Caused an IPF in Module Unknown (271716)

SYMPTOMS

After you reverse engineer tables from a Microsoft Access database, add relationships to the tables, and then reverse engineer the database again, Visio stops responding while finishing the diagram, and then you receive the following error message:
Visio32 caused an IPF in module Unknown

CAUSE

You may receive this error message for any of the following reasons:
  • You were running a virus protection program in the background when you installed Visio.
  • A conflict occurred with a Microsoft Office Dynamic Link Library (DLL).
  • A conflict occurred with a Microsoft Office 2000 DLL.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, copy the following files from the \install\bin\sp\vba\windows\system32 folder on your Visio CD, and then paste them into the \program files\visio folder on your computer:
  • msvcrt.dll
  • msvcp60.dll
  • mfc42.dll
