Printer Properties Not Set Correctly When Printing from Windows NT 4.0-Based Client to Windows 2000-Based Server (271625)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0

This article was previously published under Q271625

SYMPTOMS

If an administrator sets custom printer properties for a tractor-feed printer on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based print server, Windows NT 4.0-based clients that connect to that printer do not use the custom settings (they use only the default settings). If you have administrator privileges on the Windows NT 4.0-based client, the default settings are written back to the print server, overwriting the custom settings that the administrator previously configured.
