Mshdc.inf File Is Not Digitally Signed in Windows Me OEM Build (271434)

When Windows Millennium Edition (Me) is preinstalled on a new computer by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), the Mshdc.inf file may not be identified as being digitally signed.
This may cause the Logo'd Components test in the Hardware Compatibility Test (HCT) version 9.6 not to pass the Mshdc.inf file with the following error message when it is run on the OEM version of Windows Me:
ERROR: file (mshdc.inf) is not signed
RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes.
