Error Message When Processing Foreign Users in Delta Mode (271388)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.1

This article was previously published under Q271388

SYMPTOMS

When you run a Management Agent (MA) and process Foreign Users in Delta mode, the following error message is displayed in the Zscript log for most (if not all) records in the Export file:
0001-Export Modification[00]: Distinguished Name Not Defined

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because at log level 1 the Distinguished Name of each Metaverse object (which has had changes exported) is supposed to be logged. However, the file handle which is being referenced by the logging routines does not contain the required Distinguished Name. At log level 2 and higher, every Metaverse object which is examined, whether it has changes exported or not, is logged.

NOTE: This behavior does not cause any corruption of the exported data.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you must upgrade your system to Microsoft Metadirectory Services version 2.2.

If you need a temporary workaround for this behavior until you are able to upgrade your software, change the MA logging level. The preceding message cannot be logged if you run the MA at log level 0.

STATUS

The preceding behavior has been corrected in Microsoft Metadirectory Services, version 2.2.
