SYMPTOMS

After you install Windows Media Player 7 on a computer that is running Windows 2000, your Adaptec DirectCD software may no longer work.

CAUSE

This issue can occur when a registry key is damaged.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:

WARNING: The following procedure makes an alteration to the registry, so you must use caution when you perform the procedure.
  1. Download the Cddirect.reg file from the Microsoft Download Center and save the file to the Windows folder.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type cddirect.reg, and then click OK.
