PRB: ToolTips Fail to Display Properly in Visual J++ 6.0 (271224)

SYMPTOMS

When you move the mouse pointer over the buttons in the Properties window, the ToolTips for those buttons do not display properly. They appear in "graphic" style, which is mostly solid, closely spaced bar code, as if representing non-text characters. This problem occurs with the ToolTips for most of the buttons (such as View Designer, View Code, and Package View).

CAUSE

This is caused by a problem with the Microsoft virtual machine that is currently installed on the computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, reinstall or upgrade to the latest build of the Microsoft virtual machine from the following Microsoft Web site:

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. In Visual J++ 6.0, create a default Windows application.
  2. In Forms Designer, open a Form.
  3. In the Properties window, move the mouse pointer over the buttons. The ToolTips do not display properly.

    NOTE: If you do not have the Properties window open, on the View menu, click Properties Window to open this window.
