SYMPTOMS

A customized view for Event Viewer in a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in may not be saved. When you add multiple Event Viewer snap-ins in one .msc file, only the settings for the last snap-in are saved. Snap-ins prior to the last one revert to their default settings.

MORE INFORMATION

Event Log filtering is also affected by this issue. The filter settings for a particular event log are saved only for the entry that appears last in MMC. For example, if you have a snap-in with the event logs for three computers, the settings for the computer that appear at the bottom of the list are the only ones that are saved. The filtered settings for the first two computers are not saved; these computers appear unfiltered when you restart the snap-in.

Also, if you create a new log view, the entire page does not appear for the first n-1 computers (where n is the number of server entries saved in the snap-in) when you restart the saved MMC.
