PPT2001: Drag Operation Cannot Be Used to Copy Slides in Slide Sorter View (271121)

SYMPTOMS

When you are in Slide Sorter view, you cannot hold down the COMMAND or OPTION key and drag a copy of a slide to a new location in the presentation.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use either of the following methods.
  • Select the slide that you want to copy, and then press COMMAND+D to duplicate the slide. You can then drag the copy to a new location in the presentation.

    -or-
  • Select the slide that you want to copy, start to drag the slide, and then hold down the OPTION key while you drag (do not hold down the OPTION key before you begin to drag). Release the mouse button to drop the slide (PowerPoint copies the slide), and then release the OPTION key.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
