The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q271111 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft PowerPoint 2001, when you insert a converted sound file into a presentation, and then save the presentation as a PowerPoint Movie, the sound may not play in the movie even though the QuickTime icon remains on the slide.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if a sound file has been inserted by using the following steps:
- On the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, and then click Movie from File.
- Browse to find a sound file (such as a WAV format file), and then click Convert.
- Save the presentation as a PowerPoint Movie.
The issue occurs because the sound file is not converted correctly when it is inserted and converted with the Movie from File option.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, insert WAV files directly into your presentation. To do so, follow these steps:
- On the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, and then click Sound from File.
- Browse to find the WAV file that you want to play in your presentation, and then click Insert.
- Make any necessary adjustments to the sound.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
