PPT2001: Unable to Pause PowerPoint Movies During Presentation Design (271104)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh

This article was previously published under Q271104

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a QuickTime movie that was created in Microsoft PowerPoint into a PowerPoint presentation, and you then use the controls on the Movie toolbar to preview the movie in PowerPoint, you are unable to pause the movie as expected. This behavior occurs even though the mouse pointer appears as a pause symbol when you move the pointer over the movie as it plays.

This behavior occurs only with QuickTime Movies created in PowerPoint, not with QuickTime movies that are not created in PowerPoint or those created from PowerPoint sample templates that are included in the Project Gallery.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
