Microsoft Works Word Processor

Works Word Processor can open any of the following files:

• Any unformatted text from any file.

Microsoft Works Spreadsheet

Works Spreadsheet can open any of the following files:

• Any Excel (.xl*) files.
  
  Note Works Spreadsheet opens only one Excel worksheet at a time. If an Excel workbook contains more than one worksheet, Works Spreadsheet opens each worksheet as a separate file.

Works Spreadsheet can save a worksheet in any of the following files:

• Works 6.0 and Works 7.0 Spreadsheet (.xlr) files.
• Works 7.0 Backup files .bks.
• Works for Windows 3.0 Spreadsheet through Works 2000 Spreadsheet (.wks) files.
• Works for Windows 2.0 and Works for MS-DOS Spreadsheet (.wks) files.
• Unformatted comma-delimited text (.csv) files.
• ASCII unformatted tab-delimited text (.txt) files.
• Excel 4.0 through 2000 (.xls) files.
• Lotus 1-2-3 (.wk1) files.

Microsoft Excel can open and view a Works Spreadsheet document in the .xlr spreadsheet format. A Works Spreadsheet document can be viewed with any program that can open or view a Microsoft Excel worksheet. Additionally, Spreadsheet can also open Backup files (.bks) and Text files (.txt).

Microsoft Works Database

Works Database can open any of the following files:

• Any Works Database (.wdb) files.
• Any ASCII unformatted text (.txt) files.
• DBase (.dbf) files.

Works Database can save a database in any of the following files:

• Works 4.x and later Database (.wdb) files.
• Works for Windows 2.0 and 3.0 Database (.wdb) files.
• Works for MS-DOS (.wdb) files.
• Unformatted comma-delimited text (.csv) files.
• ASCII unformatted tab-delimited text (.txt) files.
• DBase III and dBase IV (.dbf) files.

Microsoft Works Calendar

Works Calendar can import vCalendar files (.vcs) from programs that use the vCalendar format, such as Microsoft Outlook.

Works Calendar can export calendars in the following files:

• VCalendar calendar (.vcs) files for use by other calendar programs.
• Hypertext Markup Language (.htm) files for use by Web pages.
• Unformatted ASCII text (.txt) files for use by any text viewer.

Microsoft Works Portfolio

Works Portfolio can insert, copy, and paste the following files:

• Microsoft Word (.doc) files.
• Unformatted ASCII text (.txt) files.
• Rich Text Format (.rtf) files.
  
  Note Works Word Processor documents are Rich Text Format documents. When you drag or copy a Works Word Processor document to Works Portfolio, it is stored as a Microsoft Word (.rtf) document.
• Hypertext Markup Language (htm) files.
• Most movies, image files, and sound files including, but not limited to .avi, .biff, .bmp, .emf, .fpx, .gif, .jpg, .mix, .mov, .pcd, .png, .tif, .wav, .wmf.
• Many other document and image file types that are compatible with Microsoft Windows programs.
