XCLN: Unable to Log On When Using a Multiple-Provider Instant Messaging Client (270887)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q270887

SUMMARY

The Instant Messaging client can log on to multiple providers (currently these providers are Exchange 2000 Server Instant Messaging and the MSN Messenger Service). If the Instant Messaging client cannot successfully log on to the provider that is designated as the first service to connect to, the Instant Messaging client does not log on to the secondary service.

MORE INFORMATION

To log on to one of the two working services, simply change the connection order setting in the Instant Messaging client:
  1. In the Instant Messaging client, click Accounts on the Tools menu.
  2. Under Connect to this service first, click the provider that you want the Instant Messaging client to connect to first.
NOTE: Click the Accounts tab to define the MSN Messenger Service provider logon credentials.
