XCLN: Instant Messaging Service Does Not Reflect the Correct User Status (270840)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q270840 SYMPTOMS
When you are using the Microsoft Exchange Instant Messaging Service, and you are disconnected from the network before you are able to log off from the Home server, you may experience a 20 minute delay before your status is transmitted properly to other Instant Messaging Service users that are logged on to your computer.
CAUSE
The 20 minute delay is a result of the Instant Messaging Service client computer's status lease, that is hardcoded into the Instant Messaging Service program.
MORE INFORMATION
After the 20 minutes has passed and the client computer still has not refreshed its lease, the server sets the users' status to offline.
