The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

This article was previously published under Q270625

SYMPTOMS

When you rotate a Progressive format .jpg image in Microsoft Windows Explorer, the .jpg file may revert to Standard Compression (Baseline) format.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, open the .jpg image in a third-party image editing program, and then re-save the image by using Progressive format.

MORE INFORMATION

Progressive formatting allows .jpg images to be displayed incrementally in browser windows over slow Internet connections. When a .jpg file is rotated in the Windows Explorer image preview feature, this functionality is not retained.
