Site Server Geography Report Does Not Work Correctly (270158)

SYMPTOMS

The Site Server Geography report returns few results even though the imported usage logs contain many visits from different geographic locations.

CAUSE

Site Server Usage Import does not update the Zip Code information of each domain when performing the Whois query. Site Server Report Writer depends on the correct Zip Code information of each domain to generate the Geography reports.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Site Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
