PI Photo: Setup Cannot Cancel Picture It! Upgrade (270154)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Microsoft Picture It! Photo 2001 on a computer that already has a previous version of Microsoft Picture It! installed, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
You currently have Microsoft Picture It! Installed. We must uninstall Microsoft Picture It! in order to install Microsoft Picture It! Photo 2001.
If you click Cancel, Setup continues to install Picture It! Photo 2001.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, click Next, and then click Cancel in the next Setup dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

You can successfully install both versions of Picture It! if you click Next and continue to install Picture It! Photo 2001.
