XADM: Unable to Create Recipient Policy Based on X500 Distinguished Name (270111)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q270111 SYMPTOMS
When you create a recipient policy that uses the user's X500 Distinguished Name attribute and a condition of "Ends with," no users are found when you click the Find Now button to identify the users who will be effected by the policy even though you have correctly entered the latter part of the X500 Distinguished Name of a set of users.
Note that on the General tab, the LDAP filter built by the policy includes "distinguishedName=*com", which matches user accounts, but no results are returned and the recipient policy does not affect any users.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Microsoft Windows 2000 does not return any results for the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) query built by the recipient policy.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
