OFF2000: Application Error When You Open a Web Page That Contains a Data Object Tag (270108)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Web page that contains a data object tag in a Microsoft Office 2000 program, you may receive the following error message.

NOTE: "APPLICATION" in the following error messages is the name of the Microsoft Office program that you are starting.

In Microsoft Windows 2000

Some of the files in this Web page aren't in the expected location. Do you want to download them anyway? If you're sure the Web page is from a trusted source, click Yes.
When you click Yes, No, or Cancel, the following error message appears, and the program is shut down:
APPLICATION has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created.
To view the error log in Microsoft Windows 2000, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
  2. In the Search for files or folders named box, type Drwtsn32.log.
  3. Click Search Now.
  4. Right-click the file, and then click Open.

    By default, the Drwtsn32.log file is located in the following folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\DrWatson

In Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.

APPLICATION.exe

Exception: access violation (c0000005, address:0061007a)
Or, you may receive the following error message:
The instruction at "0x04d80000" referenced memory at "0x04d80000". The Memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the application

In Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details (on Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, press ALT+D), you receive the following message:
APPLICATION caused an invalid page fault in module unknown at 0000:0061007a.
NOTE: The actual memory address may vary.

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, download and install the Microsoft Office 2000 HTML Data Security Update.
