XL2001: Query Range Is Not Moved with the Data When Dragged to a List (270097)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac

This article was previously published under Q270097

SYMPTOMS

When you drag a named region that contains a query into a list object, the data is moved, but the query range remains in the original location. Any data updates occur in the original location and not in the list object.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. Select the entire query range.
  2. On the Insert menu, click List, and then click Finish.
The query range is now included inside a list object, and when you move the list object, the query range and its links are moved with it. Any updates refresh the data in the list object.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac.
