SYMPTOMS

When you replicate Metadirectory information between Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) servers, multiple-valued attributes do not replicate properly. Specifically, antiquated values are not removed. Because of this, replicated stores can be left with more multiple-valued attributes values than the source.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because there is an error in the Replica.exe program when processing multiple-valued attribute flow.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next version of Microsoft Metadirectory Services that contains this hotfix.
