Hang During Boot Using Arcnet Network Adapter and TCP/IP in Windows 98 Second Edition (270063)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
This article was previously published under Q270063 SYMPTOMS
When you use Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) with an Arcnet network adapter on a computer that is running Windows 98 Second Edition, your computer may stop responding (hang) with a "Page fault" error message during startup. Removing or disabling the driver for the Arcnet adapter prevents the hang.
CAUSE
This behavior is caused by a problem in the Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) functions that deal with TCP/IP over Arcnet.
