Works 6: Cannot Paste Clip Art into WordPad from Works Word Processor (269986)

SYMPTOMS

When you paste a Microsoft Works ClipArt image into Microsoft WordPad, an empty frame appears in the WordPad document instead of the image. If you then try to save the document, you may receive error message similar to the following:
WordPad has caused an error in WKSHBSVC.DLL WordPad will now close. If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer.
You then receive the following an error message similar to the following
WordPad has caused an error in MFC42.DLL WordPad will now close. If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer.
and WordPad quits unexpectedly.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you insert a Works ClipArt image into a Microsoft Works Word Processor document, copy the image, and then paste the image into a WordPad document.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, do not include any Works ClipArt images in the segments of the Works Word Processor document that you copy and paste into a WordPad document.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in WordPad.
