Works 6: Error 1309 When You Install Works 6 or Works Suite 2001 (269983)

When you try to install Microsoft Works 6 or Microsoft Works Suite 2001, you may receive the following error message:
Setup: Error 1309, error reading from file: path wkgdcache.exe.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.5 Update is missing or damaged.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, manually run the Mdac_typ.exe file, and then install Works 6 or Works Suite 2001.
To manually run Mdac_typ.exe, follow these steps: NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps. - Insert the Works 6 or the Works 2001 CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
- Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
Use default steps for Windows 95/98 for Consumer programs. - In the Named box, type mdac_typ.exe.
- In the Look in box, click the drive letter of the CD-ROM drive that contains the Works CD-ROM.
- Click Find Now.
- In the list of found files, double-click the Mdac_typ.exe file.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to install the MDAC 2.5 Update.
- When you are prompted to restart the computer, do so.
After you install the MDAC 2.5 Update, install Works 6 or Works Suite 2001.
