Works 6: Envelope Address Label Boxes Are Misplaced (269975)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 6

This article was previously published under Q269975

SYMPTOMS

When you create an envelope with Microsoft Works Word Processor, the mailing address text box may be placed too high on the envelope.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using the Canon BJC 210 printer on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.x-based computer. By design, the printer driver for this printer adjusts the position of the bottom unprintable region of the document; and when this driver interacts with the Windows NT 4.x operating system, it shifts the bottom unprintable region of the document sufficiently upward to force the mailing address text box to near the top of the envelope.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade the printer driver when Canon makes a new version available. Instructions for installing the printer driver are included with the driver software.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
