The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 6
  • Microsoft Works 7.0

This article was previously published under Q269974

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) document in Microsoft Works Word Processor, any horizontal lines that have been inserted into the HTML document do not appear.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the document converter that Works Word Processor uses does not convert the HTML tag for a horizontal line, <HR>.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. Place the insertion point where you want to insert a horizontal line.
  2. On the standard toolbar, click New Drawing.
  3. In Microsoft Draw, on the Draw menu, click to select Snap to Grid (if not selected).
  4. Click the Line tool.
  5. Draw a horizontal line the length that you want.
  6. On the File menu, click Exit and Return.
  7. When the "Save changes..." message appears, click Yes.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
