- Microsoft Word 2001 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q269944 SYMPTOMS
When you create a document containing fields inserted from the Contact toolbar, (such as PLACEHOLDER, CONTACT, and USERPROPERTY) using Microsoft Word 2001 for Mac, and you then open the document in Microsoft Word 98 for Mac, the fields in your document are not visible.
This behavior may be an issue if the document is edited using Word 98, because the fields can be easily and inadvertently deleted.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:
- Use Word 2001 to edit the document.
- In Word 98, press OPTION+F9 to view the fields.
- Set Word 98 to always view fields. To do so, follow these steps:
- In Word 98, click Preferences on the Tools menu.
- Click the View tab.
- Click to select the Field Codes check box, and then click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Word 2001 for Mac.
