WD2001: Grammar Checker Does Not Offer Suggestions When You Click "About This Sentence" (269923)

SYMPTOMS

When you hold down the CONTROL key and click a grammatical error in your document, and then you click About this Sentence, the automatic grammar checker may not offer any suggestions for corrections as expected.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Office Assistant is turned off.

RESOLUTION

To use the About this Sentence option in Word 2001, you must turn on the Office Assistant. To do this, click the Office Assistant button on the standard toolbar.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

For more information about how to automatically check spelling and grammar as you type, follow these steps:
  1. On the Help menu, click Contents and Index. If you are using a version of the Macintosh operating system that is earlier than 8.0, click Contents and Index on the Balloon Help menu.
  2. In Word 2001 Help, click Index, and then type the following text:

    grammar

  3. Click Show Topics. Click the Check spelling and grammar topic, and then click Go To.
If you cannot find the information that you want, ask the Office Assistant.
