OFF2001: Default Save Folder Location Not Updated from Office 98 (269919)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q269919 SYMPTOMS
When you upgrade from Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition to Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac, you may find that your default save folders have been changed. For example, Word 98 may have been set to save to a particular folder that you created for your documents, and when you upgrade, Word 2001 does not default to that same folder. Instead, Word 2001 saves your files to the desktop by default.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
- In each Office 2001 program, select Save As from the File menu.
- Browse to the folder that you want to save your files to, and then click Save.
The next time that you open or save a document, the program automatically uses this folder.
MORE INFORMATION
When you open or save a document on a Macintosh computer, the program defaults to the last folder that it used for these operations. You can change this behavior in the General Controls control panel.
