TAMA: Object Deletion Still Exported Even Though "msMMS-TimeToLive" Is Set to -1 (269788)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.2

This article was previously published under Q269788

SYMPTOMS

Setting the msMMS-TimeToLive attribute value to -1 on a connector space entry should defer the deletion of this entry indefinitely. However, when you do so, this is not the case, and a deletion is processed.

CAUSE

Setting the msMMS-TimeToLive attribute on an individual entry should override the msMMS-TimeToLive attribute on the Management Agent (MA). However, with this configuration the entry is deleted.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, you need to set the Time to Live (TTL) value on the Management Agent, and not on each individual connector entry.

To configure the msMMS-TimeToLive attribute on a Management Agent, follow these steps:
  1. Click the desired Management Agent, and then click Configure MA.
  2. On the Connected Directory Specifics tab, click Mode and Namespace Management.
  3. Enter a value, in seconds, in the How long should disconnected CS entries persist box.
You can specify a lifetime in number of seconds for all disconnectors in the entire connector namespace. The default value is 0, which means that the entry is deleted immediately. If you enter a value of -1, the entry is never deleted. You can also set this value on individual disconnector entries by using attribute flow rules. In this case, the individual value overrides the value shown on the form.
