Works Suite 2001: "Works Cannot Access the EULA" Error Message When You Start Task Launcher (269723)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works Suite 2001
This article was previously published under Q269723 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to start the Microsoft Works Task Launcher, you may receive an error message stating that Works cannot access the End User License Agreement (EULA) and that you need to reinstall Works; the Works Task Launcher fails to start.
If you reinstall Works, the same behavior occurs.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you install Works 6 from the MSWorks folder of the Works Suite 2001 CD-ROM instead of running the Works Suite Setup program. Works 6 was not intended to be installed from the MSWorks folder, and the registration key that searches for the EULA searches in the wrong place.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install Works 6 by running the Works Suite Setup program on Disc 1 of the Works Suite 2001 CD-ROM.
