Internet Connection Sharing Settings Are Not Migrated When You Upgrade to Windows 2000 (269699)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade from Microsoft Windows 98 Second Addition (SE) to Windows 2000, Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) no longer works.

CAUSE

The Windows 98 SE ICS settings are not migrated during an upgrade procedure.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, reconfigure all ICS settings in Windows 2000. For additional information about how to configure ICS settings, view the "Internet connection sharing" Help topic. To do this:
  1. Click Start, and then click Help.
  2. On the Search tab, type internet connection sharing in the Type in the words to search for box, and then click List Topics.
  3. Double-click Internet connection sharing in the Select topic box.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
