No Sound from One Program When Running Voice Utility and DirectSound Program (269604)

If you use both a voice utility and a program that uses DirectSound at the same time, you may not hear sounds from more than one program at a time.
CAUSE
Some programs that use DirectSound can cause sounds from other programs not to be played. Such programs use DirectSound in Exclusive mode by using the
DSSCL_EXCLUSIVE flag when they create a DirectSound object.
RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
